I co-founded the informational media publishing company Asperger Experts in June 2012, helping the endeavor balloon into one of the biggest autism-centric companies in the world. I left the organization in 2015 to pursue a career in journalism. The more I learned about how many people struggle with autism—and which communities need the most urgent support—, the more I became convinced I needed to cast a wider net and focus my work in other ways. In 2014, I won the National Council on Independent Living’s Diana Vietz Award for my work at AE.
In October 2023, I appeared on Canada Broadcast Corporation’s (CBC) Day 6 segment to discuss neurodivergence in the animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers. The interview was broadcast across Canada and on select NPR stations throughout the U.S.
